Rays of hope in economic stress

Staycation.
As the summer draws to close, "staycation" has been the buzzword of the season. While gas prices remain high and houses foreclose, our checkbooks stay close to our side. And instead of the anticipated extravagant summer getaways, people stayed close to home and saved money. As we all know times are bit tough; especially on small, local businesses. But in times of economic discouragement I hope to bring you a little ray of hope. Advertising doesn't have to cost you your soul. In case you aren't aware, we have at least four opportunities to advertise for as little as $8.00 per week! Here's some inexpensive ways to keep your name in the public's mind. First there's the devotional directory. Every week we produce a special section in our newspapers listing all the available churches in the area. To advertise in this section is $9.00 per week with a 13 week commitment. Then there's the business directory featured in our NEA Marketplace. The Marketplace is inserted in all five of our network papers: Tri-City Tribune, Trumann Democrat, Town Crier, Piggott Times and Clay County Democrat. You can promote your name to nearly 16,000 people for only $8.00 per week! This also includes a 13 week commitment. Also we have our community calendar which runs in the Tri-City Tribune. The calendar features local events for the upcoming month and to sponsor this section is only $20 a month. Lastly there's the community page which runs in both the Trumann Democrat and Tri-City Tribune. At the first of the month, we encourage local shopping by featuring local businesses. An ad in this section is $30 a month per paper. So you can promote your business every month without knocking a dent into your already tight budget. For more information call or email me.

Hitting the bull's eye. Recently I purchased the infamous Nintendo Wii. The game play is different than any other system made and the social climate it creates makes it the hottest selling console available. One thing my wife and I love playing is a dart game. Frustratingly we try to use the Wii remote to throw our darts as close as possible to the bull's eye. Then after five sets of darts, one of us gets to gloat about being the closest to the bull's eye...
Advertising in Adversity I know your predisposition while reading this: in the end all he really wants is my money. I'll have to admit, I would appreciate your business, but honestly my larger goal is to help you survive these difficult times. I've never managed a business (or at least have not been officially paid for it), but I have worked for several small businesses and know one thing without a doubt: if you want to succeed, people have to know you're there. ...
Financial Help for Advertising In today's business world, there's at least one fact dominating the market: money's tight. When I was younger I applied as an account manager for a local rent-to-own store. My job was to ensure that people paid their bills on time and hopefully in full. The owner said to me, "Some people only have a little money and it has to spread out. We want to ensure that we're covered in that spread."...

Repetition, Repetition, Repetition Do you ever wonder why such big corporations like Coke, Wal-Mart and Ford spend so much money on advertising even though they are well-known businesses that accrue vast sums of money per year? Because they understand the value of repetition. Keeping their company's name and products fresh in people's minds elevates the chances for more consumers to check out their business...
