A New School Year Blossoms

The new school year has started. I'm now in the 11th grade. I think this is the most challenging grade yet! There's a lot of homework, and hardly any classes that all you have to do is show up. Here's my schedule for this year:

1st Period: Journalism- Ms. Kristie Lee

2nd Period: AP English- Ms. Kristie Lee

3rd Period: AP Biology- Ms. Denishia Jones

4th Period: Study Hall- Ms. Glenda Drace

5th Period: Chemistry- Jeremy Boling

6th Period: Algebra II: Sonja Huffmaster

7th Period: American History- John Kelly

8th Period: JROTC- Col. Clarence Overbay & SGT Larry Wilkerson

As you may have noticed, we walked into the school with some new faces. There were several new teachers: Jeremy Bowling who teaches sciences, Sonja Huffmaster who teaches mathematics, Angie Rodgers who used to teach at EPC, she now teaches mathematics at MTHS, there are three others that I don't know yet. I'll get back to you with those. There will be an article in Indian Fever, our school newspaper, for the Tribune soon that will give you the detailed update of our school.

This year we plan on keeping the community up-to-date with MTHS's advances. If you will, to help us out, what do you want to hear about from the school paper that will soon be appearing in the Tribune?

This coming Saturday, the 13th, those who scored Proficient or Advanced on the End-of-Course exams will be taking a trip to St. Louis, MO to Six Flags as a reward for their hard work. Again, a huge thanks go to Mrs. Thompson and Ms. Lisa Gray, our principal and ex-mathematics teacher, without their support, dedication, faith, and a whole lot of patience, it paid off. We were first in the entire state with our Geometry scores! How awesome is that? !

Also this year, I have decided to create an organization that will bring prayer back into our school system. It's called BASIC, it stands for Brothers and Sisters in Christ. We will gather every Monday and pray before school. We will have a donation box at the Cotton Pickin' Jubilee to help raise money so we can take trips, or to have shirts made. Already, the group has close to 50 students. (And no, that's not a typo, I said 50. Two other students have been instrumental to it's success. Our first meeting will be this coming Tuesday. I will blog about how that goes. Please pray for BASIC, that God blesses it.

Until my next post, farewell and take care. And remember to comment and tell me what you think about it and if you have any concerns or things you want to stay informed about at our school. Thanks for reading!
