Fred M. Shackelford, Jr., 73, of Memphis, died on April 3, 2003 at his home.

Born on September 5, 1929 in Osceola, Shackelford was formerly of Marked Tree. He was a member and deacon of Ridgeway Baptist Church and a sales executive of MDR and Transcon Lines.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alene Heard and Treva Finely.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Shackelford of Memphis; one daughter, Elizabeth Boggs of Memphis; two sons, Fred M. Shackelford III and Matt Shackelford, both of Memphis; and nine grandchildren.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at the Ridgeway Baptist Church in Memphis, with Dr. Hal Fletcher officiating. A graveside service and interment followed at 1 p.m. at the Marked Tree Cemetery.

Murphy Funeral Home, Marked Tree, had charge of the arrangements.
