Born on January 26, 1922 in Decaturville, Tenn., White was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lepanto, former member of the Lepanto VFW, former member of the America Legion, Army WWII Veteran, and owner/operator of a service station.
Survivors include six daughters, Margie Ruth Roberts of Branson, Mo., Linda Carol Andrews of Athens, Mich., Oberia Sweat of Mickie, Tenn., Omega Sweat of Mickie, Tenn., Virginia Goodwin of Mickie, Tenn. and Ruth Tucker of Decaturville, Tenn.; seven sons, James David White of Marion, Jerry Wayne White of Akron, Ohio, Kenneth Lee White of Bronson, Mich., Phillip White of Dallas, Texas, Roger White of Fort Smith, Calvin White of Decaturville, Tenn. and Bruce White of Durant, Fla.; two sisters, Ellen Cooksey of Mickie, Tenn. and Marie Byrd of Jackson, Miss.; two brothers, Jake White and Charles White, both of Mickie, Tenn.; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Duffel officiating. Burial will follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, May 22, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 212 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205. Murphy Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
