John Henry Reed Sr., 59, of Osceola died Friday, July 4, 2003 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Nodena, Ark. on May 7, 1944, he was a retired factory worker and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include his wife, Pearlie Reed of Osceola; his mother, Nancy Reed of Osceola; three sons, John Henry Reed Jr. and Ronald Terry Reed, both of Osceola, and Gary Grice of Wilson; one daughter, Noami Ervin of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters Adell Spears and Geanie Sheffey, both of Abingdon, Va.; one brother, Oscar Reed III of Mosquite, Texas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Reed Jr.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Thursday, June 10 at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola, with the Rev. Billy Driver officiating. Burial will follow at Whiteside Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.

Visitation was held at the funeral home.
