Born on March 8, 1937 at Athens, Ala., to Emery Wade and Lossie Irene (Gatlin) Carter. She was a homemaker and a Christian.
Survivors include her husband, R.V. Roach of the home; five sons, James Roach of Poughkeepsie, Jerry Roach of Evening Shade, Randy Roach and Anthony Roach, both of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Rickey Roach of Springfield, Ill.; two daughters, Shirley Carpenter of Poughkeepsie and Joyce Roach of Florence, Ariz.; four brothers, Columbus Carter, Douglas Carter, Drewey Carter and William Carter, all of Lepanto; one sister, Joyce Kelly of Dyess; 18 grandchildren, Brian Roach of Coolidge, Ariz., Paul Roach, Tina Lawson and Daniel Roach, all of Blytheville, Casey Carpenter, Jason Carpenter, Nicole Koch, Johnny Carpenter, Timothy Carpenter, Michael Carpenter, Joseph Carpenter, Jessica Carpenter and Sharif Carpenter, all of Poughkeepsie, Cynthia Knight of Casper, Wyo., Kelsey Brooke Story of Lepanto, Debra Cornish of Jonesboro, Jackie Olguin of Casa Grande and Madaline Randell of Florence, Ariz.; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Rufus Carter and T. C. Carter and three sisters, Mabel Harris, Floramae Hall and Macie Elizabeth Carter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at Qualls Funeral Home chapel in Cave City, with Richard Hawkins officiating. Burial followed in Powell's Chapel Cemetery near Poughkeepsie.
Pallbearers were Paul Roach, Daniel Roach, Casey Carpenter, Jason Carpenter, Michael Carpenter and Joseph Carpenter.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Carpenter and Timothy Carpenter.
Visitation was held at the funeral home.
