Born at Mound Bayou, Miss., he was a farmer and school bus driver and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include four sons, Felix Carpenter III, Joe Carpenter and Ulice Carpenter of Battle Creek, Mich., and Albert Carpenter of Elkhart, Ind.; two daughters, Phebie Hall of Pontiac, Mich., and Ester Mosby of Detroit; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 9, at Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church in Tyronza, with the Rev. Larrie Bell Sr. officiating. Burial followed in Carpenter Cemetery under the direction of Sims-Woodard Funeral Service of Marked Tree.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home.
