Marshall Monroe Woods

Marshall Monroe Woods, 76, of Marked Tree died Monday, Feb. 2 at Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Woods was of the Baptist belief, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Marked Tree Historical Society.

Woods was survived by his wife, Selma Rorie Woods of the home; his son, Gary Woods of Marked Tree; his daughter, Marsha Woods Graham of Marion; six grandchildren: Kimberly Hawkins McFarland, Mallory Woods, Matthew Woods, Matthew Adamson, Daniel Adamson, and Jennifer Graham; and three great-grandchildren: Austin McFarland, Triston James Adamson, and Katelynn Michelle Adamson.

Woods was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Monroe Woods, Sr. and Pearlie Shafer Woods as well as his brother Johnnie B. Woods.

Mr. Woods lived in the Northeast Arkansas area all of his life. He retired from Barton's lumber company and also sold insurance for MFA in Marked Tree for several years. Woods served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4 from 5:00 -- 8:00 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Rev. Gerald Kausler officiating. Burial will follow at Marked Tree Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rick Tubbs, Charles Stracner, Don Davis, Dennis Adams, Bob Mouser, and Danny Johnson.

Anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial is asked to consider the American Heart Association, Diabetes Foundation, or First Baptist Church "General Fund" in Marked Tree.
