Born at Marked Tree, she was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Marked Tree and worked as a machinist for Wabash Co. in Memphis.
She had lived in Detroit six months, moving there from Marked Tree.
Survivors include one daughter, Billie Whitfield of Detroit; six sisters, Winnie Ruth Johnson of Marked Tree, Dorothy Taylor and Chestia Dial, both of Kansas City, Mo., Jessie Mae Graves of Cleveland, Johnetta Hubbard of Chicago and Wilma Gordon of Memphis; five brothers, Earl Ray Blake of Detroit and Billy Murray, Charles Brown, L.J. Brown and Eugene Brown, all of Memphis; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Marked Tree, with the Rev. G.C. Simpson officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Cemetery at Marked Tree under the direction of Sims-Woodard Funeral Home.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
