He was preceded in death by his parents, James Russell and Prudence Berry Clifton Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Mary "Joie" Ward Clifton of Letona; two sons, Gerald L. Clifton of Waterford, MI and Russell M. Clifton of Davisburg, MI; one step-son, Robert M. Ward of Dyess; two step-daughters, Frances Ward Allen of Columbus, MS and Sandra Ward Chapman of Wilmar, AR; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 12 at 10 a.m. at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home in Searcy. Graveside services were held at Bassett cemetery at 2 p.m.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Letona Baptist Church Building Fund.
