Carol June Stricklin Hillis

Carol June Stricklin Hillis, 59, of Harrisburg died Sunday, May 1 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Hillis was born in Marked Tree and was the daughter of St. Elmo Stricklin and Laverne Stephen Stricklin. She was a cosmetology teacher and homemaker.

Hillis was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where her husband, Rev. Frank Hillis, is the pastor. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father: J.D. Woods, a brother: Harry Stricklin and a sister: Gloria Dean.

Survivors include: Her husband of 44 years, Rev. Frank Hillis of Harrisburg; one son: Michael Hillis of North Berwick, Maine; three daughters: Rita Kay Ferguson of Hastings, Mich., Theresa Jo Grenon of Norfolk, Virginia and Penny L. DeLosh of Massina, N. Y.; one sister: Betty Sue Ward of Marked Tree; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5 at the Weston Funeral Service Chapel in Harrisburg with Dr. Morris Denman officiating. Burial followed at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Joe Hillis, Jim Hillis, Doyle Hillis, Ronnie Hillis Tom Hillis and Wayne Hillis. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Hillis and Clarence Hillis.
