Violet May Johnson

Violet May Johnson, 85, of Etowah died on Sunday, August 1 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was a homemaker and a member of West Ridge Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert L. Johnson; two sons: Ennis Johnson and William Johnson; and two daughters: Bonnie Fleming and Patsy Hammond.

Survivors include six sons: Bob Johnson of Yorbalinda, Calif., Robert Johnson Jr. of Etowah, Grady Johnson of Luxora, Harvey Johnson of Osceola, Nathan Johnson of Etowah, and Fred Johnson of Etowah; four daughters: Nora Ferguson of Etowah, Peggy Morgan of Etowah, Carolyn Moore of Monette and Martha Haas of Oceanside, Calif.; six sisters: Kathryn Smart of Harrisburg, Delia Garner of Lepanto, Leona Russell of Duck Hill, Miss., Lillian Phillips of Jonesboro, Willene Gardner of Lepanto and Vera Lewis of Redfield; one brother: Dale Harvison of Trumann; 46 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5 at Potter Memorial Cemetery with Mike Gonzales officiating.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 4:30 -- 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
