Elsie Mae Johnson

Elsie Mae Johnson, 81, of Tyronza died Friday, August 13 at her home.

Born in Turrell on May 19, 1923, she was a retired cook. She was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Chelford where she served as church cook, church secretary and church announcer.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Johnson, Sr.

Survivors include three daughters: Elsie Brown of Dallas, Texas, Betty J. Wilson of Chicago, Ill., and Barbara Ann Harris of Detroit, Mich.; one son: Alfred Johnson, Jr. of Tyronza; one sister: Velma Coleman of Memphis, Tenn.; four brothers: Mitchell Ball of Jeanette, Johnnie Percy Ball, Jr. of Augusta, Ga., James W. Ball of Fayetteville, N.C. and Solomon Ball of West Memphis; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 21 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Chelford with Rev. Waldo Campbell officiating.

Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola was in charge of the arrangements.
