Kenneth F. Marr

Kenneth F. Marr, 78, of Houston, Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 20.

He was born April 15, 1926 in Tyler, Mo. to Karl and Cecil Marr. The Marr family lived in Marked Tree from 1940 to 1952 and were members of First Baptist Church. Kenneth graduated from Marked Tree High School in 1944. He worked at the Marked Tree Tribune during high school.

Kenneth entered the Army upon graduation and served in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy during WWII where we was awarded the Bronze Star. He married Billye Jo Dye of Marked Tree in 1947 and graduated from William Jewel College in Liberty, Mo. in 1949. After working for Union Planters Bank in Memphis for a year, he returned to Marked Tree and rejoined the Tribune staff.

In 1951, Kenneth accepted a job as an accountant with Shell Oil in Deer Park, Texas. He and Billye moved to Houston where they lived since. He retired from Shell in 1989. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church in Houston.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Billye Marr, of Houston; one daughter, Dale Marr of Houston; one brother, Gerald N. Marr and wife Linda of Nashville; and sister-in-law, Elodie Bingham of Marked Tree.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston with Rev. James W. Clark of Park Place Baptist Church officiating.
