Opal Ruth Cockrell

Opal Ruth Cockrell, 75, of Lepanto died Monday, Oct. 18, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Cockrell and Norman Cockrell, both of Lepanto; eight sisters, Lula Davis of Warrenton, Mo., Heidi Gilbert of Sebring, Fla., Wilma Jean Evans and Sue Evans, both of Wauchula, Fla., Wanda Weaver and Doris Shipman, both of Caraway, Patricia Griggs of Lepanto and Evon Harrison of Chenoa, Ill.; four brothers, Stanley Jones, Cecil Jones and Buddy Jones, all of Lepanto, and Oran Jones of Warrenton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claudie Cockrell.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21 in the chapel of Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto, with W.D. Gann officiating. Burial followed in Potter Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry Blair, Shawn Shipman, Justin Cockrell, Danny L. Weaver, Wayne Fires, James Davis and Buster Jones.
