Vera Lou Hall Ray

Vera Lou Hall Ray, 59, of Lake City died Saturday, Nov. 27, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Lake City, she was a graduate of Bay High School and an employee of J.C. Penney at Jonesboro for 31 years. She was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include her husband, William T. "Bo" Ray of the home; two sons, Rodney Turney of Lake City and Chris Turney of Marked Tree; three brothers, Robert Hall of Greers Ferry, Larry Hall of Bay and Russell Hall of Lake City; one sister, Patricia Dailey of Chesapeake, Va.; and two grandchildren, Haley Turney and Abby Turney, both of Lake City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jester and Louise Hall, and one brother.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, with Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Chuck Ryan, Billy Ray Cooper, Terry Hall, Fred Heeb, Stanley Gulley and Jimmy Griffin.

Honorary pallbearers included employees of J.C. Penney and the 1964 class of Bay High School.
