Edward "Ed" Redd

Edward "Ed" Redd, 78, of Harrisburg died Thursday, Jan. 13, at Jonesboro.

Born at Tyronza, he worked in farm equipment and was a salesman. In the 1960s and 1980s he worked for Marked Tree Equipment Co., in the 1970s for Parkin Equipment Co. and in the 1990s for the People's Implement Co. at Earl. He retired in 2000. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was an active deacon. He was an Army veteran and member of the American Legion for 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Chism Redd of Harrisburg; three sons, Jimmy Redd of Little Rock, Danny Redd of Harrisburg and Mark Redd of Memphis; one brother, Mel Redd of Harrisburg, and three grandchildren, Erica Danielle Redd, Cory Redd and Trevor Redd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Lorene Fowler Redd; one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16 at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Tacker and the Rev. Captain Lovell officiating. Burial followed in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jeff Wood, Don Neil, Talmadge Doss, Marvin Krauss, Carlton Panell and Johnny Rorex.

Honorary pallbearers included the men's Sunday school class of Calvary Baptist Church and Jay Parker.
