Funeral services for Helen J. Sherrill, 92, of Marked Tree, who died Monday, Jan. 24 at her residence, was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Anderson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Rev. Daniel Ward officiated and burial followed in Little River Cemetery in Marked Tree under the direction of Sims-Woodard Funeral Service of Marked Tree.

Active pallbearers were Daniel and Orlanda McCuiston, Stevie and Jeremy Chandler, R.L. Malone and Eugene Brown III.

Honorary pallbearers included Harold R. and Raymond G. Sherrill, Willis and Rodney McCuiston, Travis Joplin, Brian Chandler and deacons James Johnson, Sr., Willie Hendrix, Charlie Anderson and L.D. Barnes.

Born in Humphrey, she lived in Stuttgart before moving to Marked Tree over 70 years ago. She united with the First Baptist Church where she served dutifully as a choir member, usher board and past secretary until her health began to fail and she could not attend as she desired.

Survivors include two sons: Harold r. Sherrill of Kansas City, Ks. And Raymond Sherrill of Marked Tree; four daughters: Mary R. McCuiston, Carolyn J. Sherrill of Marked Tree, Helen R. Sherrill of Marked Tree and Crystal A. Luster Sherrill of St. Louis, Mo.; 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Sherrill; her son, A. J. Sherrill; her parents, Coleman and Mary Neal, and six siblings.
