Evans was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department and a member of the Church of God in Lepanto. He was a United States Navy WWII veteran. Evans enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hester (Boudy) Evans; his wife, Neoma Mae (Poff) Evans; four brothers: Acklass Evans, Cecil Evans, Jesse Evans and Dewey Evans; and two sisters: Bertha Isham and Ruby Goodman.
He is survived by one son, James Percy Evans of Florida; one grandchild, Kori Messer Evans; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23 at the Church of God in Lepanto with Bro. Brian Monehan officiating. Burial followed in Bolivar Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.
