Jewell Thielmier, 79, of Marked Tree died Saturday, April 23 at Skill Care Nursing Home in Marked Tree.

She was a founding member of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of Sioree Bridge Club since 1946. She was also the owner and operator of a Marked Tree retail store as well as a member of the Liberty Street Church of Christ inMarked Tree.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Thielmier.

Survivors include one son: Greg Thielmier of Jonesboro; one daughter: Patricia Dempsey of Huntsville, Ala.; two brothers: Doyle Tarlton of Jonesboro and Bill Tarlton of Cove; three grandchildren: Robb Dempsey, Greg Dempsey and Jessy Thielmier; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Marked Tree with Ronnie Benson officiating. Burial followed in Marked Tree Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were be Larry Tarlton, Stephen Evans, Michael Layman, Steve Wren, Doug Thielmier, Henry Thielmier, Michael Thielmier and Dennis Thielmier.

Honorary pallbearers included Glen Swingle, Frank Brunner, Cleo Johnson, L.D. Tarlton, Phillip Brunner, Buddy Lovell, Richard Fleming and Clois Hamilton.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
