Willie Mae Young

Willie Mae Young, of Salem was born on June 2, 1914, in Fayette County, Alabama, daughter of the late Sheard P. and Samantha J. (Watkins) Tucker. She died May 17 at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 90.

Willie was united in marriage to Dave Young in 1946, at Lepanto. She spent her working years as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a cook/cafeteria manager for the Lepanto School System. Willie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lepanto. While living in Salem, she attended the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Dean Weathers of Salem; one step-daughter, Bobbie Tolliver of Lepanto; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Brother Doug Criss and Shanda Weathers officiating. Services were under direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem. Graveside services were held Friday, May 20 at the Potter's Cemetery in Lepanto with Brother Jim Duffel officiating, with interment following under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto. Pallbearers were Glenn Tolliver, Bill Tolliver, Mitch Tolliver, Pete Cox, Lane Tolliver and Ricky Cox.
