He was a truck driver and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving include one daughter, Tracy Dawn Nelson of Ponca City, Okla.; a son, Jerry Dewayne Nelson of California; two sisters, Evalena "Kate" Freeman of Columbus, Ohio and Ada Tucker of Elon College, N.C.; a brother, Henry "Doc" Nelson of Huntington, Ore.; a grandson, Briston Nelson; and two step-granddaughters, Kellee Odle and K.C. Odle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Lea Nelson; and two brothers.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 in the Potter Memorial Cemetery at Lepanto with Huey Meherg officiating. Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto handled the arrangements.
