The son of Everett and Anna (Burgess) Cox, he was born Sept. 25, 1922 in Marked Tree. He worked as a carpenter for the Santa Fe Railroad. After his retirement, he spent much of his time fishing, hunting and playing poker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Cox of Dardanelle; one daughter, Joyce Brandis and husband Steve of Orland Park, Ill.; two grandsons, Steve Brandis and wife Melissa of Crestwood, Ill. and Phillip Brandis and wife Marcy of Frankfort, Ill.; two great grandsons, Zachary Brandis of Frankfort, Ill. and Ian Cager Brandis of Crestwood, Ill.; and one sister, Ethel Black of Wisconsin.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23 at Humphrey Chapel with Reverend Richard Adams officiating. Burial followed at Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville by Humphrey Funeral Service.
