Wessie Wilson Word, 97, of Tyronza died April 14 at his residence.

Word was a retired school teacher, a member of the Arkansas retired teacher's association and a member of Tyronza First Baptist Church.

Word was preceded in death by his wife, Grover D. Word.

Survivors include Kirk Word of Rockbridge Baths, Virg.; one sister, Eudine Turner of Memphis; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 at Tyronza First Baptist Church.
