Leroy Armstrong

Leroy Armstrong, 66, of Marked Tree died Wednesday, May 17 at his residence in Marked Tree.

He was a retired supervisor at Mid South and a member of Sneed Street Baptist Church. He was president of the Harrisburg Hunting Club, an army veteran in the Korean War and preceded in death by his father Ancy Armstrong and two sisters: Ann Sweigart and Eula Carter.

Survivors include one son, Steve Armstrong of Marked Tree; two daughters, Carolyn Burkheart of Greers Ferry and Cindy Adamson of Marked Tree; his mother, Opal Armstrong of Marked Tree; two sisters, Gale Flippo of Madera, Calif. and Sue Upton of Baltimore, M.D.; five grandchildren: Justin Lee Armstrong, Peyton Leigh Bridges, Brandon David Bridges, Bryce Alexandria Burkheart and Lane Heath Thompson and one great-grandson, Noah Camden Dabney.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 19 at the funeral home with Patrick Tucker and Sam Willis officiating. Active pallbearers were Ricky Blansett, Earl Jones, Jerry Carter, Mike Armstrong, Timmy Ballard and Doyle Hillis. Honorary pallbearers are Leonard Vick, Truman Henderson and Don Beck.

Burial followed at Marked Tree Cemetery.
