Alline P. Gray

Alline P. Gray of Jonesboro died Thursday morning at her home. She was born April 8, 1922 at Poughkeepsie in Sharp County to Allen & Celia Gay. In 1952 she was married to James Phenix who preceded her in death in 1964.

In 1971, she married C.J. Gray, of Marked Tree, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Emagene Johnson.

Gray was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Jonesboro and was a retired cashier from Kroger where she worked for 27 years.

She leaves one brother, Norwood Gay of Elkhart, Indiana and a sister, Joyce Anderson of Poughkeepsie. She leaves four nephews, Michael Johnson, Roger Johnson, Frank Anderson, Randy Norwood, and two nieces, Pat Hanson and Lexie Sullivan.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Her nephew, Michael A. Johnson and Pastor Gary Henderson officiated. Burial followed at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Family members served as active pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Ronald Blachly, Dr. Carroll Scroggin, Dr. Allen Nixon, Dr. James Murrey and Dr. Stephen Lundy.
