Eva Maxine King Featherston

Eva Maxine King Featherston, 89, died Jan. 14, 2007, in Memphis, Tenn.

Born on May 11, 1917, in Ackerman, Miss., Featherston was the youngest of 10 children. She moved with her family at a young age to Northeast Arkansas. She graduated from Marked Tree High School and attended Arkansas State University. On Dec. 24, 1939, she married James Rodgers Featherston. They lived in Marked Tree until April, 2000, when they moved to Memphis, Tenn.

Featherston, a homemaker, was an active and long time member of the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree. She was a generous and kind wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. "Red" Featherston, her parents, John and Nola King, sisters, Ollie Calcote, Ella Lee Wooley, Esther King, Etna Pilcher, Bertha Manning, Kathleen Parker, and by her brothers Homer King, Clyde King and John D. King.

She survived by her son Mike, his wife, Judy and their children, Jim, Karen, and Anna all of Memphis, Tenn.; her daughter Susan F. Coates and her husband Ed of Monroe, La. and their children Catherine Coates of Atlanta, Ga. and Courtland Coates of Monroe; a special sister-in-law, Anna King of Memphis and by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree. Burial was in Marked Tree Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.
