Rebekah Lee Garner Self

Rebekah Lee Garner Self, 52, passed away Feb. 24, 2007 at her home in Greenbrier.

She was born Sept. 17, 1954 in Blytheville to the late Rev. Jimmie L. Garner and Evelyn Hudson Garner.

She is survived by her husband, Bert Self of the home; a son, Jonathan Self of Macomb Ill.; her mother, Evelyn Garner of Trumann; and a brother, Matt Garner of Bentonville.

Mrs. Self worked tirelessly as a youth / children's Director, soloist, choir member, VBS director, Sunday school teacher, children's worship, and church drama producer, and served in many other capacities at several different churches. She did children's television shows, as well as commercial acting, being cast in the movie "Lonesome Dove." She also enjoyed interior decorating, gourmet cooking and cultivating a loving atmosphere in her home.

She is a graduate of Williams Baptist College, (formerly Southern) at Walnut Ridge where she tutored Bible her freshman year and Union University at Jackson Tennessee. She did undergraduate study at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She was able to accomplish this and much more in spite of many years of physical illness and disability.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 27 at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Heber Springs under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, with Rev. Andy Jackson officiating. Burial followed at Jonesboro Memorial Park in Jonesboro.
