He was a member of Marion Church of God and a veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Ruby Burress, three sisters and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Burress of Trumann; one daughter, Nancy Gibbs of Marked Tree; one grandchild, Kara Gibbs and two great-grandchildren, Quentin Beard and Jabari Mitchell.
Visitation is from 6 -- 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 at Murphy Funeral Home.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10 at the funeral home with Danny Pankey officiating. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery.
