Phillip Edward Calvert

Phillip Edward Calvert, age 88 of Sherwood, formerly of Marked Tree, died Thursday, June 7 at Arkansas Hospice Center in North Little Rock.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church men's Bible class and the Lion's Club. He was a retired Captain in the United States Army where he received the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star. He was honored as "Man of the Year" in 2003 by the Marked Tree Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife, Montie Barringer Calvert of Sherwood; two daughters, Ann Reginelli of Plano, Texas and Carol Nutt of Sherwood; one sister, Christine Calvert of Jonesboro; and six grandchildren: Lee Nutt, Natalie Nutt, Melissa Nutt, Christopher Calvert Nutt, Brent Reginelli and Ryan Reginelli.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice for the loving care they offered the family.

Funeral services were Monday, June 11 at the First United Methodist Church in Marked Tree with Rev. Rex Dickey officiating. Burial was Tuesday at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in Sherwood.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Marked Tree and Arkansas Hospice.
