Rofe was born on Oct. 4, 1931 in Sherrill to the late John Henry and Viola Sims Clayton. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Vertie Mae Clayton.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Osceola where he served on the motherboard. He was employed at EOC for 15 years and retired from American Greetings.
He is survived by five daughters, Ivy Sanders, Carolyn Pointer and Cynthia Boyce, all of Osceola, Virginia Ann Brown of Elkhart, Ind., and Brenda Kaye Coleman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three sons,Wilbur Lee Rofe of Blytheville, Billy Rofe of Trumann and George Rofe of Joiner; four sisters, Lovetria Holman, Dazer Mason and Barbara Jordon, all of Eerie, Penn., and Dorothy Clayton of Kansas City, Mo.; four brothers, Lloyd Henry Clayton of Kansas City, Mo., Larry Clayton of Jacksonville, Fla., Melvin Clayton of Pine Bluff, and Dennis Clayton of Eerie, Penn.; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., Nov. 3 at the Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Osceola. The Reverend Ed Richardson will officiate.
Burial will be in Whiteside Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
