Sammie Charlene Shelton, 80, of Marked Tree, died Monday evening at Craighead County Nursing Center where she had resided briefly.

Born in Risco, Mo., Mrs. Shelton moved to McCormick in 1958 and then to Marked Tree in 1963. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree.

Survivors include: one son Johnny Mac and wife Debbie Shelton of Trumann; two daughters: Annesa and husband Jimmy Thompson of Marked Tree and Beth and husband Larry Wray of Payneway; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were Thursday morning at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jim Shaw officiating, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
