She was a homemaker and a member of the Revival Center of Lepanto. Payton was an avid gardener and loved to fish, sing and cook.
Survivors include six sons; James Payton and Vernon Payton of Marked Tree, Terry Payton and David Payton of Wellington, Ala., Benny Payton of Dyess, Lonnie Payton of Spring Hill, Fla.; two daughters, Judy Payton and Patsy Payton of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, Hubert Atchley of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Shankle of Burlison, Tenn., Peggy Davis of Fyffe, Ala.; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life was Friday, Feb. 1 at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Marked Tree with Rev. Tom Hazelwood officiating. Burial followed in Marked Tree Cemetery under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Terry Payton, Benny Payton, David Payton, Corey Payton, Mitchell Atchley and Nicholas Cirillo. Honorary pallbearers were Jamie Payton, Vernon Payton, James Payton and Lonnie Payton.
