Thomas Whitner "T.W." Dorton, 92, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008.

Dorton was born Aug. 13, 1915, at Redford, Mo., to the late Houston and Ida Morton Dorton. He retired after 27 years with Frolic Footwear Company and was of the Baptist belief. During his earlier years, he was a farmer.

Survivors include one daughter, Wilma Smith Fisher and her husband John of Jonesboro; brother, Virgil Dorton of St. Peters, Mo.; two granddaughters, Debra Young of Jonesboro and Roanne Worsham of Lepanto; five great-grandchildren Cara Pilgrim, Stacia Young Gallon, Kevin Young, Racheal Worsham & Amelia Worsham; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Dorton was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Millie Dorton; brother, J. C. Dorton; three sisters, Jeraldine Dorton, Faye Gardner and Aleene McNatt; and granddaughter, Becky Smith.

A celebration of his life was held on Tuesday, Feb. 12 in Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Lingenfelter officiating. Burial followed in Ransom Cemetery.
