He was born August 8, 1934 in Tennessee and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Kirby.
He was a retired carpenter and served in the U. S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.
James is survived by his son, James Kirby, Jr. of Mountain View; daughter, Brenda Kirby Legear of Spanish Fort, Alabama; six brothers: Bobby Kirby of Harrisburg, Dean Kirby of Paragould, Gary Kirby also of Paragould, Jr. Kirby of Marked Tree, Larry Kirby of Mountain View and Jody Kirby of Harrisburg; six sisters: Katy Sanders of Tennessee, Wilma McClain of Lepanto, Mamie Red of Lake City, Linda Kirby of Lepanto, Wanda and Lillie of Harrisburg; four grandchildren: Chad Legear of Spanish Fort, Sara Kirby of Mountain View, Chase Logan of Spanish Fort and Austin Kirby of Mountain View.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Kirby.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 11 at the Assembly of God Church with Reverend Tony Legear officiating. Burial followed at Flatwoods Cemetery in Mountain View with Roller Crouch Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Lawson Carroll, Donnie Carroll, Keith Smith, Jonathan Masters, Jimmy Masters and Brandon Muse.
