James "Trigger" L. Pipes

James "Trigger" L. Pipes of Portland, formerly of Tyronza, died Feb. 15.

Born Oct. 7, 1931 in Savannah, Tenn, he was a veteran of the United States Army. He fought bravely during the Korean Conflict for three years participating in three different campaigns. He later came to Michigan to work for Fisher Body and married and moved to Portland.

Pipes was preceded in death by his loving parents Claude Clarence and Elvie Jane (Hall) Pipes; two brothers, Frank and R.L. Pipes; and a son Jonathan "J.J." Pipes who died Feb. 12, 2006.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; children Lisa and James; siblings, Gladys, Johnny, Virgil, Billy and Butch; several grandchildren and one great-grandson; nephews; extended family members and dear family friends.

Private military services and interment were at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek, Mich. Arrangements were entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home in Portland. A memorial dinner was held at the V.F.W. Post #4646 in Lyons.
