Clara Wenona Barnes passed away March 12, 2008. She joins her late husband, Robert Barnes.

She was born Aug. 5, 1927 in Marked Tree to Charles and Van Dora Bradley.

Barnes grew up in Marked Tree with her two brothers, Junior and Wayne, and her sister O'neal.

After marrying Robert on March 23, 1946, the couple made their way to Antioch in 1952. However, her little house on Sherman Island was considered home for the last 44 years.

Her home was a safe haven filled with love and tenderness to her sons Charles and Danny; her daughter Debra; her six grandchildren and her 10 great-grandchildren.

Many friends and family have spent time there enjoying a cup of coffee, eating her banana pudding or spending the night. She loved to show off her lovely flowers and garden.

In lieu of funeral services, the family hosted a brief prayer service Tuesday, March 18 at Rio Vista Cemetery.
