This one's for mom

Thursday, May 15, 2008
Terror. That was my mom's first thoughts when she found out she was pregnant. She wasn't married and it definitely wasn't planned. How in the world was she going to bring this to her parents and even more so, how was she going to raise a child being a teenager? She didn't know much, but there was one thing overriding all her fears and lack of experience: she was going to love this child in everyway she knew how to love. Now, 26 years, later I can say one thing for sure: you did a great job mom!

When it comes to love, I think of a few people that have shaped my perspective on the matter including Jesus, who willingly surrendered up his life for me; my wife, who makes me feel incredibly wanted; and lastly, the most influential of them all is my mom. She gave up so much for me to become who I am today. I am forever indebted to her loving-kindness and sacrificial love that has paved the way for me to emerge into a man who cares. Men don't have to be sissy's to know how to love. They just have to reveal to those dearest to them that they care.

Surveying all the mushy cards, I can't help but to feel overwhelmed that every single one of these cards catches but a facet of how wonderful my mother really is. I'm sure by the time she finishes reading this she'll by in tears because she's so emotional.

I love you mom and wish you a very wonderful Mother's Day. One special day could never compensate for all you've done for me.
