Lockhart was born August 24, 1922 at Lake Cormant, Miss. She was a member of the New Bethel M.B. Church in Joiner as well as an Usher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lydia McDade and Walter Washington; her husband, John Lockhart; onE son, Robert Love; one step-son, John Lewis Lockhart; and three brothers, Sammie Washington, J.W. Washington and Arzo Washington.
She was survived by one daughter, Essie Wilkerson of Chicago, Ill.; four step-daughters, Ruthie Sykes of Blytheville, Betty Bryant of Waterford, Mo., Earlene Macklin of Osceola, Deborah Bass of Detroit, Mich.; eleven sons, Vernon Love of Joiner, Ossie Love of Blytheville, Jimmy Bowers of Chicago, Ill., Andrew Bowers of Chicago, Ill., Earnest Ray Washington of Chicago, Ill., Esaw Washington of Osceola, Leroy Lockhart of Joiner, Joe Washington of Joiner, Everett Maurice Washington of Dothan, Ala., Kevin Love of Joiner, Jerry Love of Marion; four stepsons, Shelley Lockhart of Miami, Fla., Roosevelt Love of Osceola, Roosevelt Lockhart of Southfield, Mich., Sylvester Lockhart of Bridgeport, Mich.; one brother, Virgil Washington of Memphis, Tenn.; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
The funeral service was Monday, June 2 at the Promiseland Church of God in Christ in Osceola with Rev. Arthur Lee Townsend officiating. Burial followed at Rivercrest Gardens Cemetery in Marie.
