Nix, Jernigan compete for Judge's seat

The runoff election for Poinsett County Judge will be held Tuesday, June 10. Polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hut in Lepanto and the National Guard Armory in Marked Tree.

Charles Nix and Steve Jernigan will face off in the County Judge race. In a three-way race May 20, Charles Nix of Harrisburg had 1,298 votes while Steve Jernigan of Lepanto received 1,035 votes. Incumbent County Judge came in third with 946 votes.

Early voting began Tuesday, June 6 at the Poinsett County Courthouse in Harrisburg. Voters can cast ballots from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the County Clerks Office. Early voting will continue through Monday, June 9, according to County Clerk Fonda Condra.
