Merry Luetta Baker

Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Merry Luetta Baker, 80 years, 7 months and 19 days, left this world for a better place on Saturday, June 21 at her home in Marion.

She was born November 2, 1927 to Wheeler and Alma Morris in Savannah, Tenn. On July 9, 1944 she married the love of her life, J. C. Baker who preceded her in death on November 3, 1992.

She leaves two loving daughters, Joyce Baker Brown of Marked Tree and Judy Baker Fox of Marion, a sister, Marie Hutchins of Long Beach, Cal. and a brother Eugene Morris of Marked Tree.

She also leaves behind son-in-law, Jimmy Brown of Marked Tree, grandchildren, Robert Fox and wife Deann of Tyronza, Lisa Fox Halbach and husband John of Marion, Tim Brown and fiancé Amy Saponara of Marion, Lacey Brown of Marked Tree and great grandchildren Blake and Jessica Fox of Tyronza, Brianna Walker, Christian Peppers of Marion, Emily, Chris and Rush Halbach of Jackson, Miss.

She was baptized into the Lord's church in May 1957 at Lepanto Church of Christ by Brother James Benson. She devoted her life to her Lord and her family and died a member of the Missouri Street Church of Christ family.

During her lifetime she exemplified the calling of wife and mother but had great capacity to share her love as a Pink Lady at the Crittenden Memorial Hospital and for 14 years she was 'mom' to hundreds of pre-school children at West Memphis Christian Day Care.

In her later years her frustration with her failing body was clear to all who knew her because of her giving nature. She lived to serve her family and loved ones and her Lord. She is at home with her beloved husband of 49 years waiting and fully expecting to see all those she loves to laugh another day.
