Dr. Threet to speak at MT First Baptist

Dr. Kenneth Threet of Jonesboro will be the guest speaker at the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree during the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. services Sunday, Aug. 17.

Threat and his wife Ruth Taylor have been married since Sept. 2, 1951. He has been in the ministry since 1946 and has pastured churches throughout Arkansas and Texas.

Beginning ministry at an early age, Threet preached his own high school baccalaureate,

He is a graduate of the Berry School of Horsemanship, Lead Hill High School, Southern Baptist College, Arkansas State University, Southwestern Theological Seminary and Luther Rice Seminary where he obtained his doctorate degree. He has been heavily involved with the Baptist State Convention for which he has preached on various occasions.

He has helped establish and support 11 churches throughout the United States, as well as helping several churches with their building and remodeling programs.

Threet was the chairman of the Northeast District of the Red Cross for five years and served as an honorary Chaplin of the Arkansas National Guard. He was the Chaplin of the Clay County Jail and the Piggott hospital for 10 years as well as the Chaplin of the Arkansas House and Senate twice.

He was appointed to the Committee for Higher Education by Governor Rockefeller and to the Committee on Civil Disobedience by President Johnson.

Threet served on the board of the School of New Hope for Special Children for five years and on the board of directors for the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison for 12 years. He currently serves as the chairman of the board to establish and maintain a health clinic in Lead Hill.
