A lot of people who voted for Hillary are now planning to vote for McCain. They aren't doing it because they prefer him over Obama. They want McCain elected so Hillary can run against him in four years.
That's a bad idea for at least two reasons.
First of all it is always hard to beat an incumbent. He already has name recognition and his organization is already in place. Look, if people were willing to keep George W. in office with his record, they would re-elect a retarded chimpanzee, not that you would notice a difference.
The second reason not to vote for John McCain is that the Republicans do not deserve to be rewarded with that office after all of the things they have done. I'm not just referring to the last eight years, but even farther back.
When Bill Clinton was in office the Republican Congress launched investigation after investigation trying to find dirt on him. When his personal behavior gave something, they weren't willing to settle for a congressional censure. They were determined to impeach him, even though they knew they didn't have the votes to convict him. They did it simply because they could.
Before the 2000 election the powers that be in the Republican Party decided that they would nominate George W. Bush for President. They knew he was totally incompetent for the job, but they knew that his name would give them the best chance to win the election.
They had a choice back then. If they had wanted to nominate the best person for the job they would have chosen John McCain. That wasn't what they wanted. They were so hungry for the Presidency they chose the candidate that they thought had the best chance to win.
As I stated above, they knew that Bush wasn't fit to be president of a stamp club, much less the United States. That didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was winning.
Republicans looked us in the eye, and with a straight face, told us that George W. should be elected President when they really knew he shouldn't. Look where this country is as a result of that deception. We are in a war that never should have been started, people are losing their homes and jobs in record numbers, and the gap between the rich and the poor is wider than ever.
The record of the last eight years is enough to show that the Republicans don't deserve the Presidency. When you add to Bush's incompetence the fact that they ran him when they knew he wasn't fit, not only do they not deserve the Presidency, somebody should go to jail.
