Shelby Young, 89, of Memphis died Sept. 13, 2008 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Jeanette Barnett Young.

Survivors include one son, Mike Layman of Jonesboro; one daughter, Nanette Stanchak of Horn Lake, Miss.; two brothers, Bruce Young of Georgetown, Mo. and Archie Young of Huntsville, Ala.; three sisters, Jean Thompson of Memphis, Ruth Scott of Southaven, Miss. and Betty Owens of Wesson, Miss.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Marked Tree Cemetery with Pastor Bobby Joe Barnett officiating.
