Born Sept. 27, 1922, she was of the Methodist faith. She was an avid homemaker for her family and assisted with the family candy, vending and photography business. She was a staunch volunteer for her community. She served as a Cub Scout Leader, a Girl Scout Leader, ran the concession stand at the baseball field, was always in demand to chaperone a local dance or other youth gathering and still found time to bake wedding and birthday cakes. She was a member of the Sioree Bridge Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Friends of the Library.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward Lee Rogers. Survivors include two sons, Ronny Rogers and wife Ellen of West Memphis, Don Rogers and wife Mitos of Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter, Connee Rogers Orr of Hickory, N.C., five grandsons and nine great grandchildren, and a sister, Doris Lummus of Meridian, Miss., a niece and two nephews. Special care was provided by her "adopted family" of caregivers Tracy Drace, Donna Wood, Sandy Akers, Margaret Ford and Kathy Reed.
A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Murphy Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Williams officiating. Burial followed in Marked Tree Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Methodist Church, Elevator Fund, 304 Frisco Street, Marked Tree.
